My name is John Finerty.  I was diagnosed (properly) in early 2010 with Bipolar II Disorder, Anxiety, and Depression after what felt like a lifetime of misdiagnosis simply as Chronic Depression.  To many people, the difference may seem trivial, but I can assure you that it is not.  However, as I am publishing this blog in an attempt to advocate for mental health awareness and positive change – my disorder does not fully define me as a person.  So I’d expect at least occasional pieces of information about me, my life, my interests or random thoughts are also possible.  I am now 36 years old, turning 37 in September and so have only lived with the diagnosis for about 7 years now.  It has been a wild, crazy ride for sure.  But that brings me more knowledge and understanding, so I view it as progress.
